COOPERATIVE BEHAVIOUR PLAN – 2010

You will be aware that the school has operated a successful programme for many years, one which relies on both parents and teachers working together and supporting one another in the best interests of the child.

To enable your children to feel safe, secure and happy at school we have a list of behaviours expected of the children inside the classroom.

OUR JUNIOR SYNDICATE RULES ARE:

Be kind and caring towards others.

Follow instructions.

Look after your own and others’ belongings.

Have a go at everything and try your best.

We aim to promote and reinforce positive behaviour.  Positive rewards include:

Verbal and written praise.

Regularly giving out stickers/certificates.

Special educational activities.

Choosing a friend to do a special activity with.

Some strategies we may need to use to reinforce appropriate behaviour:

Name on the board.

Time out.

Go to another class in the Junior Syndicate.

Send to the Syndicate Leader.

Discuss behaviour with parents.

OUR MIDDLE SYNDICATE RULES ARE:

  1. BulletBe attentive at listening times.

  1. BulletFollow instructions.

  1. BulletBe considerate to others.

We rely on parents to support us in encouraging children to behave appropriately.  We aim to promote acceptable behaviour by providing a system of rewards for good behaviour and consequences for those who behave inappropriately.

These Consequences Are:

  1. BulletWarning.

  1. BulletName on board.

  1. BulletCross by name and sit by yourself in the classroom.

  1. BulletGo to Staffroom (Mr Daubé).  Fill in consequences sheet.

  1. BulletRing up parents to discuss behaviour.

The great majority of children have no trouble following simple rules.  We look forward to working closely with you this year for the benefit of your children.

SENIOR SYNDICATE:

Every class in the Senior Syndicate will operate the same set of rules which are clearly displayed in the classroom.

Here Is What Happens Should A Child Break One Or More Of The Class Rules On The Same Day:

STEP ONE:

The child’s name will be written on the board as a warning.

STEP TWO:

A cross will be placed beside the child's name should he or she re-offend.  Immediately the child will be asked to complete a consequence sheet.  The consequence sheet (Cause and Effect Sheet) will be sent home to be read by parents and they must sign this and return it to school.

STEP THREE:

A further cross will then be placed beside a child's name should he or she infringe again.  Parents will then be contacted to discuss ways of working together to improve the behaviour of the child in question.

It must be remembered that the aim of the system is to promote positive behaviour by discouraging the negative.  It also ensures that children accept personal responsibility for their actions.
